8:00pm to 9:00pm – Contemporary Dance with Chloe Bee & Music by Omar Sungar

This offering to raise awareness of our bodies, our spaces & our capacity to move and groove while opening up to improvisational & experimental skills, flexibility, and reciprocity.

Chloe: A teacher of dance for over a decade, she brings joy into the body and intention into the practice of moving. The intention in this September sessions experience is to optimize kinesthetic awareness while having a good time and lubricating the joints and tendon groups that may not be activated on a regular basis. From spinal undulations and poly-rhythmic orientations, we will flow through a juicy warm up and then some upright exercises for engaging the imagination, some across the floor expansive sequences, and a movement combination that is designed to feel hip-opening and lymph-moving. Inviting the element of water into our every muse and move, you will most likely leave here feeling Ooey Gooooy strong and delicious.

Omar: Born in Oakland, Raised in Philly and thriving in Honolulu for a hot minute, Omar Sungar is a vital musician with precocious behaviors on guitar, bass, drums, rapping, singing and producing hip hop tracks. He performs throughout O’ahu & has music available for your pleasure on Spotify, Youtube & Soundclound.

What is contemporary dance?

This ambiguously named style of dance that draws from jazz, lyrical and classical ballet, is a movement practice that pushes boundaries and explores creative freedom. Through engaging imagery, strengthening technical exercises, intricate gestures, intentional stillness, and deepening relations to gravity, we fill the space with floor work, across-the-floor work, and choreographic combinations in a supportive environment.
